The South Caribbean Conference Men’s Ministry Department held its Annual Men’s Equipping Conference at the Preysal Secondary School on Sabbath June 10th 2017. The community of men within the Conference in Trinidad has been branded 'The Better Men Movement'.
This year’s program, held under the theme “Authentic Manhood…Building Men for Christ”, was conducted in central Trinidad with over 1000 men in attendance. Several were clad in the distinct green, red and white t-shirts, organised by the SCC Men’s Ministry Department. This provided a kaleidoscope of colours from manhood of all age and races. In the past, the Men's Conference consisted of an audience of mature males, but this year, the presence of the younger men and boys of the churches was quite noticeable and welcomed. Clearly, this Men’s Equipping Conference has become the signature event for men of the South Caribbean Conference.
Present at the program were the SCC Administrators including President, Ps. Leslie Moses. Also in attendance were several officials from the Caribbean Union viz. Treasurer Elder Bertie Henry, members of the SCC Clergy as well as the Tobago Mission. During his greetings, President Moses shared his concern regarding a recent study reflecting a ‘weak view’ of the value of Men’s Ministry to the Church, he re-emphasized the need for programmes to strengthen this critical ministry of the Church.
The Better Men Movement’s aim is not only to provide a forum for men with the Conference but to equip the men of the church and the various communities that they have been called to serve, with the tools critical to promoting Godly manhood within the society and the church. Its motto is “Men of Spirit…Men of Worth”.
The day’s program was segmented into the following presentations:-
1) The Foundational Truth Of Fatherhood- Ps. Rennie St. Hill (2) Engaging The Stages Of Fatherhood - Ps. Terrence Brown (3) The Modern Christian Male And His Dance With Pornography and (4) Strong Dads …Strong Daughters – Ps. Wilny Audain.
The women were being equipped concurrently at the Women’s Ministries Convention conducted at the Centre Point Mall, Chaguanas (Central Trinidad).
