The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Caribbean Union Conference joined in celebrating the one-hundredth anniversary of the Inter-American Division with a celebration of music and culture on 24th, November 2021. The 100 year anniversary is in fact in 2022 however the Division has voted to celebrate this milestone over a one year period.
The online program was heavily advertised and provided an opportunity for many to see the history of the Adventist Church within the Caribbean Union. According to Pastor Anthony Hall, Chair of the Centennial Celebrations Committee, "the Inter America Division is one of the largest divisions of the seventh-day Adventist Church". The program featured highlights from the various territories of the Caribbean Union: Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Anguilla, The BVI, The USVI, St. Marten, and St. Eustatius.
The Union’s President, Dr Kern Tobias delivered the event’s keynote address, which was followed by the Consecration Prayer by Pastor Johnson Frederick, CARU’s Executive Secretary. Pastor Bertie Henry, CARU Treasurer, offered greetings and challenged members to support the upcoming events financially.
Many individuals contributed to the collection of memorabilia, typically pictures and a historical review of the work of the church in all the territories of the Caribbean Union. The two-hour celebration program is available on the Caribbean Union’s YouTube Channel. We encourage all members to review this video. We give thanks to God for bringing us “this far by faith!”
