The South Leeward Mission Family Ministries Department - Antigua, launched the Family Buddy System at its first Island wide Family Ministries Convention in September 2018. Heads of families were encouraged to submit their family cards bearing the family name and contact number. At a strategic point during the day, each head was requested to come and collect any family card from the board.
Two families were extremely blessed to have found each other. One family from the Buckleys congregation picked a card from the Freetown congregation, but there was a slight problem. There was not a telephone number. That lead to a few weeks of prayer and searching and finally the Buckleys couple tried a series of numbers and inquired about the description of the card and sure enough , the family was found.
It was an early Sabbath morning when the last number was tried. That was when the Watsons and the Edwards families connected. This initial contact ended with a powerful prayer session, and thus, continued the family exchange. In December, the couples met and went on a double date at a fine restaurant. Fine food and good conversation about family matters, parenting, dating, memory lane and God's leading made the event a success.
Then on Thursday, January 3, 2019, on Family Night, both families met for full family celebration. The four parents, seven children and two grand parents had an amazing night of what clean Christian family fun can be like. The night included a celebratory cake eating to send off the second of the Edward's girls to College overseas. The night ended with photo shoots and extra fun.
Both families want to thank the Family Ministries department for such a powerful inreach and outreach ministry initiative. There are continuous plans for these two families. The Watsons and Edwards families also want to encourage the other families to get on board to enjoy good Christian living and powerful Christian witnessing.
