Waiting on Examination results creates its own period of anxiety and suspense which is subsequently followed by excitement, satisfaction or disappointment whenever the results are received. This was the current situation with all secondary schools and with all the stakeholders inclusive of teachers, students, parents or guardians, school boards and owners of institutions with the release of the 2019 CXC results and its accompanying analysis.
As we focus on the two Secondary Schools owned and operated by the Churches of the SVG Mission - the Mountain View Adventist Academy (MVAA) and the Bequia SDA Secondary School (BSDASS). The performances of the schools this year can only be described as highly commendable, given the fact that we do not always receive the brightest of students. In a number of cases, a lot of remedial work has to be done to increase students’ chances of best results.
The results show that Bequia SDA Secondary created history when for the first time in its existence it returned passes of 88. 57% to capture the 3rd position among the 26 secondary schools in the State. In accomplishing this feat, they have taken a 17% giant leap over 2018 results. Following behind Girls High School and Boys Grammar School in ranking position means that they would have done remarkably well and God has blessed their efforts tremendously. The two top students from BSDASS are:
What makes this result even more commendable is that the school operates with tremendous financial and material constraints. We salute BSDASS for this illustrious report. Mountain View Adventist Academy has been generally consistent in its results and has returned passes of 82.08% to capture the 6th position among the secondary schools nationally.
The top three achievers are:
Of a total number of 20 subject areas written, the school returned 100% passes in 10 subject areas. We tip our hats to MVAA for this remarkable report.
We submit that when it comes to Adventist education we can see that where the emphasis is given to the Creator and supplier of all knowledge, children excel. Let’s express our deepest appreciation and profound commendation to the principals, staff, students, parents and guardians of our two secondary schools for their outstanding results. We thank especially our teachers for their labours of love, ardent sacrifice and commitment to excellence.
We wish all successful students a great future as they continue to chart their educational journey. To those who may not have worked and tried hard enough for better results, it is not the end, so rise up, dust off, take a fresh guard and try again.
Our SDA schools operate in order to equip students to achieve academic excellence within a Spiritually-charged environment. The Bible is upheld as the most important textbook and God is presented as the object of Education; the source of all true knowledge and wisdom. The schools are value-driven and teaching is considered a ministry, where teachers and students are challenged and encouraged to follow daily in the footsteps of Jesus Christ for a secured and sustained future.
Let’s continue to own our schools, support them, promote them, and pray for them.
