The South Caribbean Conference Education Department on Sunday 19th Dec 2020  held its Virtual Concert & Telethon fundraiser. The Gift Virtual Concert began at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 10:00 p.m. and raised over $65'000 TT.

This was a new initiative by the Conference and was the second major telethon fundraiser by a conference department or Adventist to be held this year. In July the University of the Southern Caribbean held its Telethon to raise funds for needy students affected by the pandemic.

This telephone was also aimed at raising funds to help students within the local Adventist School System to secure devices in support education during the covid pandemic. The local Seventh-day Adventist Church in Trinidad operates 15 education institutions consisting of two secondary schools and several primary schools and early childhood education centres.

The virtual concert began with a beautiful acapella group rendition of the National Anthem by Honour in Song (H.I.S) followed with prayer by Executive Secretary Pastor Paul Philbert. In her opening remarks, the Education Director of the Conference, Jessica Cunningham stated that the aim of the concert was to 'address the educational needs of our boys and girls in these unprecedented times'.

Various acts and musical artists provided renditions including Courtney Fadlin, USC Choir and more. The program had several segments by children who are current students within the Adventist School system. Other persons involved in this initiative included Renee Joseph, Junior Lett, Ravae Isaac and Jeston Alexis.
